I\\\'m a descendant of Laurenz Koehnen (also spelled Coenen, Koenen, Köhnen, Kohnen) and Maria Elisabeth Panhaus who in 1864 brought their family to New York on the ship Favorita. They settled near Chaska, MN along with some of the Limburgers you identified here. They came from Wehr across the border from Sittard. Although Laurenz was born further inland in Beggendorf but Maria Elisabeth\\\'s family was centered in Wehr. I wonder if they didn\\\'t consider themselves Limburgers.
My mother, their great granddaughter, often used German expressions with me. When I studied German I could identify most of these expressions but some totally mystified me. Perhaps they were Limburger dialect?
